The construction of Ngurah Rai Tugu Underpass in Tuban was temporarily stopped because the workers have all gone home to celebrate Idul Fitri with their families. Construction has stopped from June 11 until four days after the Idul Fitri holidays. (Approximately 10 days. Ed.)

Big machines and project equipment have been temporarily moved to the side of the road and although the construction has stopped, there is a cleaning gang on the project area for the holidays.

“We temporarily halted the construction because many of the workers have gone home to celebrate Idul Firi. We are cleaning the area on the left and right sides at the moment to help prepare the welcome for tourists arriving to Bali during the Idul Fitri holidays,” said the Commitment Creator Officer (PPK) of the National Road Implementation Department (BBPJN) VIII, Nyoman Yasmara on Monday.

He also told reporters that the progress of the construction is around 74 percent. The last part of the project would be the construction of the bottom slab structure and the retaining walls on the north side.

“Although most of the workers have gone home, we have still assigned a cleaning duty to maintain the landscape and water the plants. We also assigned several security officers,” he said to nusabali.com.

Yasmara said that the progress is still on schedule. “We did not receive any instructions to finish it before Idul Fitri and we have been working non-stop till now. We will be digging more, constructing the bottom slab, the underpass wall, the guardhouse, landscaping and completing the retaining wall when they get back,” he concluded.
