The Brimob assault rifle that went missing at Ayana Hotel, Jimbaran in 2017 was finally found over the weekend. The SS1 rifle belonged to a member of the Bali Police Mobile Brigade, which was allegedly seized by robbers two years ago.

Police Commissioner I Wayan Arta Ariawan, confirmed the discovery of the firearm on Saturday. “Yes correct, we are still developing the case,” he told reporters on Saturday (6/22) afternoon.

The discovery of weapon originated from the suspicion of residents in Jimbaran, who reported to police a parked car on the side of Jalan Bandung, Puri Gading, Jimbaran, on Friday afternoon (21/6).

Suspicion arose after the black Toyota Avanza had been parked at the location since three months before. The apparently abandoned car was then reported to the South Kuta Police Station.

From inside the trunk of the car police officers found a number of items including the long barreled gun, bulletproof vests, machetes, crowbars, raincoats, hammers, ropes, face-shaped masks, hair wigs and suitcases.

The firearm’s registration number was identical to the Brimob weapon that was lost at Hotel Ayana, on August 8, 2017.

“At the moment we don’t want to surmise the story behind this find. We are still investigating it,” said the police chief.
