A young local man, Y.P.J. (23) was arrested for allegedly stealing a handphone at Old Man’s Canggu on Saturday night. The phone was owned by a Dutch customer by the name of David Bakker (49).

As reported in the BaliPost, according to North Kuta Police Captain Johanes H. Widya Dharma Nainggolan accompanied by Police Commissioner Iptu Putu Ika Prabawa on Wednesday (6/12), the theft occurred in Old Man’s bar and restaurant on Jalan Batu Bolong, Canggu.

According to the Dutchman, the phone, worth Rp 15 million, was left on a table when he went to the bar. “At the time there was a friend at the table, and the victim left for a moment to go to the bar,” said Police Commissioner Ika Prabawa.

After that, the friend of the victim left the table briefly to go to the bathroom. A few minutes later, the victim arrived back to the table and the phone was gone. The victim asked his friend who said he didn’t know anything about it. The man reported the loss to the North Kuta Police.

“We went straight to the scene. From the witness’s information, we were led to the suspect. The suspect was a guest at the bar,” said Prabawa.

Based on investigation, the suspect location was on Jalan Batu Bolong, North Kuta. The police immediately found him and he was arrested on Sunday at 2am.

The interrogation of the suspect found that he had stolen the victim’s mobile phone. After that, the stolen goods were sold to a friend for Rp 1.2 million. The money from the sale of stolen goods was used to pay debts and daily needs.
