The Maybank Bali Marathon (MBM) 2017, held earlier today, was a resounding success with new challenges for the runners and adventurous innovations, while still featuring the beauty of rural Bali through its new race routes across Kabupaten Gianyar and Klungkung.
In the Full Marathon Open Male category Henry Kiprotich with BIB number 2235 scored a time of 02:19:17, making him champion of the 2017 Maybank Bali Marathon. After running for 42.195 kilometers through the new route in scenic rural Bali areas, Henry Kiprotich looked proud as he was awarded cash prize of 189 million Rupiah, handed over by the President Director of Maybank, Taswin Zakaria.
In the other respective categories, the Full Marathon Open Female title was taken by Rumokol Chepkanan, from Kenya scoring a time of 02:38:38, while the Full Marathon National Male title was won by Wiryawan Jaya Subangkit scoring a time of 02:41:53 and the Full Marathon National Female was won by Meri Mariana Paijo scoring a time of 03:01:54.
The Maybank Bali Marathon 2017 attracted more than 9.000 runners from 44 countries including Indonesia, with the majority of runners from the host country. In total, the number of participants of this annual marathon event increased 20% compared to last year, making it one of the biggest international standard sports event in Indonesia that is consistently growing.
