Dutch tourist, Shirley Smit (44), got her bag snatched by a motorcycle driver in Sanur, last Friday night (04/08). The incident happened around 9.30pm when Smit was walking home from dinner with her husband and children to their lodging at Peneeda View Hotel in Jalan Danau Tamblingan. As she entered the road that led to the hotel, a motorcycle passed them and turned around.
“The driver approached them and grabbed the bag,” said a source from the police, as quoted by Nusa Bali. The victim tried to hold on to her bag but eventually had to let go.
The bag contained €290 and IDR300k cash money, four passports, makeup kit, iPhone 5, credit card, bank pass, identity card, and public transport pass among other things.
“The total loss is estimated to be around IDR20 million. We are still investigating the case,” added the source. The police are currently checking CCTV footages and questioning witnesses.
