A Bulgarian woman has been searching for her missing brother in the waters of Nusa Penida for almost two months but without any success.

The woman, Marieta said her brother, Kostadin Kanavrov disappeared in the waters between Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan during a free dive with two Bulgarian friends on 14 February 2018.

“At that time his two colleagues witnessed his disappearance while diving in the waters,” she explained to Berita Bali.

After receiving news of her brother’s disappearance, Marieta immediately flew to Bali and began to search for him. She has been searching since February 18, 2018 with the SAR team and the police.

“After a week of unsuccessfully searching for the man, the SAR group stopped the search, as no sign of my brother could be found,” said the woman from the Bulgarian city of Dobrich.

Although the SAR team is no longer searching, Marieta still continued the search effort herself on land, sea, and in the air by renting helicopters.

“I have been searching around the waters of Nusa Penida, the waters of Bali, to the waters of Java with a rented helicopter, but my brother has still not been found,” she told reporters.

Now into April, Marieta still hopes to find her only brother. The missing Bulgarian man has a wife and two daughters aged one year and 10 years old, who are still waiting for the arrival of their father at home.

“My lost brother, Kostadin Kanavrov, is 174cm tall, weighs 90kg, and is 40 years old. He was on his first vacation to Bali and continues to be missing. If anyone knows any information of his whereabouts, please inform police, as his family in Bulgaria are still hoping that he will be able to go home soon,” she said.
