AirAsia Indonesia just adds one new flight that connects the cultural city in the east of India, Calcutta, to Bali. This will be the second city in India after Mumbai that has a direct flight to Bali.

“We are happy to announce the launch of the Bali – Calcutta route, which will strengthen the connectivity between India and Indonesia,” said Dendy Kurniawan, CEO of AirAsia Indonesia. “The demand for a direct flight between the two countries is very high.”

He explained that the number of tourists from India has increased 40 percent in the first semester of 2017 compared to the same period last year, which puts India into the top three countries visiting Bali.

“This is why we are committed to bring more tourists from India to Indonesia,” Kurniawan added.

Calcutta is the fourth new flight from AirAsia Group this year after Mumbai – Bali, Tokyo Narita – Bali, and Macau – Jakarta.

Kurniawan remarked that the route is an opportunity to introduce Bali as a new holiday destination for the people of Calcutta that can now be reached easily. Conversely, now Balinese people and visiting tourists can now have the option to visit the culturally-rich Calcutta.

AirAsia’s Calcutta – Bali route will begin on October 1st and will use an Airbus A320 airplane, which has a 180-seat capacity.
