A Chinese woman was found dead in her room in Villa Ombak Cemagi, Mengwi early this morning. The woman, Yu Wali, (51) was found dead at around 3am.

The Head of Badung Police, Commander Yudith Satriya Hananta, told reporters that so far, they have interrogated three witnesses, and they suspect that the woman was murdered.

“One of the witnesses, her daughter, Ge Qi, (31), woke up after hearing the screams of the victim coming from her room on the second floor. When she went to investigate, the victim was found covered in blood and already dead,” Yudith said to balipost.com on Thursday morning.

The victim had been living at the villa with her daughter, son in law, grandchildren, and a maid since four months ago and had operated a property business.

Her son in law, Zhao Linkuan, 36, reported the incident to the villa security who then reported it to the police.

The police investigated the crime scene and have secured evidence. They found stab wounds to her body, and what appears to be a fatal stab to her left chest.

“An autopsy is being performed to investigate the cause of death. We are still investigating the case and questioning witnesses. The maid had only been working for the family for one day,” the police chief said.
