Mount Agung is now calm and slowly, Balinese tourism is also beginning to find a pulse again.

Just when all seemed to be heading south, new data is in saying that arrivals are already rebounding.

“Data on arrivals on the first day of Ngurah Rai airport reopened on 29 November 2017 showed only 17 people from abroad and 21 domestic arrived to Bali,” Bali Tourism Board Secretary Gilda Sagrado told detik.com on Tuesday (5/12/2017).

Now that the volcano has calmed down again and the airport has been operating normally it is giving hope that the number of foreign and domestic tourist arrivals will be increasing.

“The number of arrivals continues to rise each day since reopening to 3,800, 4,200, 4,500, and 5,190 people recorded on Sunday (3/12),” Gilda said.

Although the tourism industry in Bali was hit hard due to the eruption of Mount Agung and airport closure, the number of arrivals that is increasing shows the island is still targeted by tourists from various parts of the world. The optimism of the tourism industry in Bali shows the number of foreign and domestic tourists will continue to increase during this high season month. (As long as nothing untoward occurs. Ed.)

“The real number of foreign tourist arrivals is an indicator of tourism in Bali has experienced an impact since the airport closure, but the demand for travel to Bali is still high,” said Gilda.

Meanwhile, data from Angkasa Pura at Ngurah Rai Airport showed an increase in domestic and international passenger arrivals again yesterday when there were 8,041 domestic and 7,314 international passengers arriving.
