Since the new parking rules in Ubud came into effect a few weeks ago, there have been many vehicle owners still violating the rules and the local police have had enough.

Starting from this morning, the Gianyar traffic police have been fining the vehicles illegally parked. “I have commanded my subordinates to try to apply the ticketing system to the violators,” said the Head of Gianyar Polres Traffic Unit, Commissioner Gde Eka Putra Astawa.

He said that the police wanted to apply this rule from the beginning of January, but there were some issues when first trying to apply it. So, the ticketing system started from today.

Besides the parking tickets, illegally vehicles will possibly be towed away. However, Commissioner Astawa is still coordinating with the Gianyar Transport Dept. on how this is gowing to work. “We are still coordinating with them. When the tow truck is ready, we will tow the vehicles away,” he said to balipost.com.

He also said that his team will step up the monitoring of the roadsides in questions, namely Jalan Cok Sudarsana, Jalan Hanoman, and Jalan Monkey Forest Ubud.
